The primary difference lies in how they maintain temperature control:
Passive Cooler Boxes: Rely on Phase Change Materials (PCMs), high-density polyurethane (PU), or expanded polypropylene (EPP) insulation. They shield against outside ambient heat without requiring an external power source, typically holding stable temperatures for 12 to 48 hours.
Active Cooler Boxes: Utilize an internal thermoelectric cooling system (Peltier effect) or an electric compressor powered by batteries or vehicle DC power. They actively adjust the internal climate regardless of fluctuating outside temperatures.
How to choose: If you are shipping small parcel vaccines or stable medicines to remote areas with unreliable power, Passive systems are highly reliable and cost-effective. For long-haul transit of ultra-sensitive, high-value biologics or clinical trial materials, Active systems offer dynamic thermal safety.
