Thermal performance depends heavily on proper preparation before sealing the box. Follow this checklist to ensure maximum efficiency:
Pre-cool the Box Structure: Always place an empty passive cooler box inside a walk-in cold room or refrigerator for at least 2–4 hours before packing. Packing warm insulation materials will rapidly degrade the cooling longevity of your gel packs.
Stabilize the Gel Packs: Freeze your PCM or gel packs for a minimum of 12 to 14 hours. Before putting them into the cooler, let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes (a process called "sweating" or conditioning) to clear any surface frost that could freeze your medicine.
Minimize Dead Space: Air gaps accelerate temperature loss. Fill any empty spaces inside the box with dunnage or bubble wrap to maintain an even thermal mass.
